An application letter is a letter that accompanies your CV.
What should be included in your letter ?
- That you would like to apply for a job
- Where you found out about the job
- Why you would like to do this job
- Why you are qualified to do the job
- You can provide more information if necessary
- When you would be available for interview
Your letter must contain. Your personal contact information like Name, Address, E-mail Address, Phone Number, etc. The address of the company you are writing to the date.
A. Opening Salutation
- If you know the name of the referent person :
Dear Mr Smith,
- If you don't know the name of the person :
Dear Sirs,
Dear Sir or Madam,
B. Closing The Letter
- Looking forward to reply
- I look forward to your reply
- I look forward to hearing from you soon
- I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience
C. Signing The Letter
- Sincerely, (If you know the name of the contact person)
- Yours Sincerely,
- Yours Faithfully,
- Regards,
- Best,
- Best Regards,
- And your signature
D. Addresses
Your Address
The return address should be written in the top right-hand corner of the letter.
The Address of The Company
The inside address should be written on the left, starting below your address.
E. Use The Right Tone of Language
- Don't use Everyday, colloquial language; slang or jargon.
- Don't use Contractions (I'm; it // can't etc.)
- Don't use Emotive, Subjective Language (terrible, rubbish, etc.)
